The Korean United Methodist Church & Institute (KUMC&I) was established in 1921 as the oldest Korean church in the East Coast and among the first Korean churches in the United States. The term "Institute" has historical significance in that KUMC&I was founded as a direct result of the Korean Independence Movement and served as a sanctuary as well as forum for scholars, political dissidents and immigrants. |

As a United Methodist Church, we adhere to the
doctrinal standards contained within the Book of Discipline of the
United Methodist Church (para. 103, section 3), namely, The Articles of Religion of the Methodist Church and The Confession of Faith of The Evangelical
United Brethren Church. They are written in old English, elegant and precise if somewhat difficult to understand for a modern audience. |
